I’m beyond excited to share the news that my second children’s book, Labradors Never Feel Down, Featuring Laddie the Labrador is officially published!

This story is incredibly close to my heart, and I can’t wait for families, teachers, and little readers everywhere to meet Laddie, a lovable Labrador who is cheerful, energetic, and seemingly always happy… until he isn’t.

We often look at those who seem endlessly upbeat and assume they never struggle. Laddie is one of those characters: tail wagging, eyes sparkling, and adored by everyone in his tiny country town. But as the story unfolds, we learn something important – even the happiest souls have days when their spark dims.

What the Story Is All About

Labradors Never Feel Down follows Laddie through moments of joy, playfulness, and quiet moments of feeling down too. Despite what everyone assumes, Laddie sometimes misses his old friend. Sometimes he feels overwhelmed. Sometimes he needs space. And sometimes he just feels a little down.

When young Ava finds him quieter than usual one morning, she approaches him with kindness, patience, and wisdom beyond her years. Their conversation becomes the heart of the book, a gentle reminder that:

  • All feelings are valid.
  • No one is happy all the time.
  • It’s okay to rest, to cry, to pause, to breathe.
  • We deserve to be loved through every emotion we feel.

Through the story of Laddie and Ava (his beloved human), children (and adults!) discover that being sad doesn’t make you any less loved, less valued, or less yourself. Feelings come and go like the weather, but we’re worthy of care on every kind of day.

Why I Wrote This Book

This story is dedicated not only to my wonderful husband and children, but to every child and grown-up who sometimes feels a little down. We live in a world where positivity is praised, sometimes to the point where being sad can feel like a flaw. But sadness isn’t failure. It’s human.

My hope is that parents, teachers, and caregivers will read this book with their little ones and open conversations about emotions, empathy, and being kind to ourselves.
